#TheWeekly8: The Things That Make You Happy When You’re In Your 20s…
It’s been a while since I have created a #TheWeekly8 piece, if you have been following the blog for a while, you would know, I live for making lists and this category is my favourite. This weekend, I was thinking of the positives of being an “adult”, most times I only focus on the annoying parts but there are so many things I’m actually thankful for these days. I’ll be leaving my 20s very very soon, so I have to get this out of the way.
P.s If you’ve met me in real life, you would know, I can’t wait to be 30. My 30s will be epic. My twenties have been super amazing but the thirties are going to be another level of madness. I think I have already started exhibiting the madness already, lol. If you are reading the blog for the first time, you really check this out, #THEWEEKLY8:THINGS YOU NEED TO DO ALONE AT LEAST ONCE.
1- Never having to take WAEC again—I’m still waking up drenched in my own sweat over the pressing nightmares of having to answer a question like: The average (mathematics mean) of 4 different integers is 75. If the largest integer is 90, what is the least possible value of the smallest integer? Like what was the point of this?!?
2- How your relationship with your parents has changed from them being curfew prison guards to your loyalist best friends and biggest fans. And even you playing the role of adviser, it’s simple bliss.
3- Learning to be comfortable with very uncomfortable situations. Having to meet new flatmates, start a new job and make friends, ask for a raise, quit a job, walk into a bank and ask for them to shut down the account. These are the prickly situations that will frequently reappear throughout your life.
4- The feeling of hope. That you still have the time and the marbles of energy bouncing on the strong tiles of your stomach to do something grand. Hey, if the Harlem Shake can be famous—so can I!
5- Anything free—but especially free food.
6- Making money and wasting it on things that mean more to you than school stuff, textbooks and tutors once did. Things like rent in a tiny apartment, a one way ticket to a city you crave to live out your dreams in, and beer, lots and lots of wine.
7- Being young enough to still experience things for the first time.
8- Falling in love — with a human, with a brand new job, with finally ourselves.
*The chance to change what you do for a living. Anyone who doesn’t love what they are doing is a fool (especially at this age).
What about you? What do you enjoy most about being in your twenties?
I hope you found the post interesting. Let’s connect more on social media.
