10 Ways To Inspire Personal Growth…
By now, I feel like you already know that I’m a strong advocate for personal growth. We should constantly strive to be the best versions of ourselves, that’s why I do the quarterly self-review. It helps me keep track of my progress and shows me what I can be doing to be better. Over the past few years, I have tried different techniques, listened to motivational speakers, read so many books and I want to share my best ways to inspire personal growth.
I can’t talk about this enough. YO NEED TO KNOW YOURSELF. I wrote a piece, Deep Questions To Ask Yourself To Get To Know Yourself, take a look at that, answer some of those questions. Self-knowledge is not just about knowing your likes and dislikes; it’s about knowing who you truly are as a person. Knowing what makes you tick, do you even know what you are passionate about?
There are so many benefits of reading that I’m so sure you are aware of, but for some reason, you’re still not doing it. Reading connects you with a person that may have lived decades, or even hundreds of years before you were born. It gives you an insight into another world and perspective. And it grows you in the easiest way possible, all from the comfort of your favourite chair. It’s the fastest way to grow.
We always keep and keep and keep until we can’t even focus on the things to be grateful for. We get emotionally attached to stuff that doesn’t even matter in the scheme of things. When you finally purge and rid yourself of all the clutter you’ve hoarded over a lifetime, you feel empowered, it’s freeing. Start from your emails, lol.
Meet New People
This should be a no-brainer, right? Though, I understand how hard this can be. Sometimes, we get so comfortable in our “alone-ness”, that we forget to reach out but no man is an island, we need people and whether you know it or not, people need you too. Spending time with new people will broaden your horizons and open up different adventures and opportunities in your life. So, start saying YES. Go out!
Avoid Comparing Yourself To What You See On Social Media
You have to avoid this like the plague. It’s easy to get suck into the black hole of the internet but you have to realise that what you see on social media is not real. I was at a wedding once, and a lady who sat at my table looked bored out of her mind so she brought out her phone and took a few pictures. Later at night, I saw her pictures with captions like, “this wedding is awesome”, “so litttt!” And I just felt sad for her, because she is making it look like she is having the best time of her life and no one would know how sad/bored she really was. So, don’t do that to yourself, enjoy your own life the way it is.
Get A Hobby
Being passionate about something different is cool. Passionate people are interesting and it doesn’t even matter what it is about.
Rid Yourself Of People Who Bring You Down
You know these people. Take them out of your life; it’s toxic to keep negative people around you. It brings down your morale. It reduces your productivity and you suppress a person who has the potential be to be great. So, cut them off.
Surround Yourself With Beautiful People
I’m talking about inner beauty, of course. People that have a story to tell, gifts to share and lessons to teach.
Turn Off The TV
This is pretty self explanatory.
Make Someone’s Day
Whether it’s for a stranger, a friend, or your mum, or your favourite blogger(drop a comment or tell them you love their work) just do something to brighten someone’s day. Putting a smile on another person’s face does wonderful things to your personal growth. Trust me. When you do something nice, no need to advertise it, just enjoy the feeling.
That’s it, folks! What else do you think I have missed? How do you develop yourself?
