A Short Summary
Deanna Madden has a strict set of rules to protect society from her serial killer instincts, but she’s breaking them all. After getting a taste of the world outside her apartment, Deanna tries to find a balance between her homicidal urges, a boyfriend and her work as a sexy cam girl. But her equilibrium is about to be shattered as violence and evil begin to close in once again. Now she must face the consequences.
This is the definition of a sizzling read. Whoosh!
It is very dark and dirty with a wonderful dose of dry humour. This is not a book for the prudish or squeamish but if you like your characters flawed, vulnerable, armed with a knife and happy to smash someone’s head in with a microwave then this book is for you.
I didn’t know it was the 2nd book out of a trilogy before I started and if I don’t find the 1st and 3rd, I might lose my shit!
I can’t talk about this book without dropping spoilers and I want you guys to experience for the first time.
I absolutely loved this story. I love how I couldn’t predict it. I loved the thrilling, suspenseful moments that left my mouth hanging open. I love how Torre combines steam and suspense without being over the top or unrealistic. I’m pleasantly surprised with her writing.
She kicks you out of your comfort zone and ties you with her I’m-Now-Gonna-Fuck-Your-Mind characters. The story is told from multiple pov which was nice and had a smooth flow to it, so easy to follow. I mean it’s an erotic suspense thriller, the balance is beautifully executed.
By the end of this book, I was so far down the rabbit hole. I didn’t know if I could function at work immediately. Much like the main character Deanna, I felt the urge to lock myself away. I needed time to deal with my mental turmoil over this book and the things it made me feel.
I am in a good place now, however, I want more! If you enjoy your thrillers intensely raw, dark and unusual, look no further. Torre is the shit!
